Abstract

With the advent of wireless sensor networking technology, industries started adapting the wireless monitoring systems in phases to measure and control various process parameters. To implement wireless technologies in nuclear power plant, it is essential to qualify the wireless sensor network nodes for ElectroMagnetic Compatibility / ElectroMagnetic Interference tests, Seismic tests and Environmental tests. The EMI/EMC tests have been performed as per the International Electrotechnical Commission Immunity standards and International Special Committee on Radio Interference Emission Standards. This paper describes the design enhancements of industrial grade WSN nodes developed by IGCAR. It also describes about the different EMI/EMC certification tests performed. The Seismic test proposed to be performed to WSN nodes is also discussed.
