Abstract
In this paper, the effects of different planting densities on the yield and agronomic characteristics of Jingcaihuanuo No.5 were studied. The results showed that the single ear weight decreased, but the yield increased gradually with the increase in planting density within the scope of 42000~72000 plants/hm2.In the aspects of the growth process and ear characteristics of Jingcaihuanuo No.5,when the planting density increased, the harvest date was advanced, the growth period was shortened, the plant and ear height increased, the ear length became shorter, ear diameter became more tapering and ear row number decreased. However, the length of bald tip became longer, and the kernels per row and grains per ear increased first and then decreased.Comprehensive research shows that the best planting density for the fresh ear yield was 64500 plants/hm2 in spring of Nanjing.
