Environmentally Responsible Stormwater Runoff Management

Abstract

The Paper reviews some recent North American practice in stormwater management. Practical guide books with an environmental emphasis used by local authorities in the USA were obtained on a study tour. These guides and personal discussions are reviewed in the paper together with adaptations and ideas for Australian conditions. There are design criteria for Environmentally Responsible Runoff Management. Water quality and habitat are impacted by uncontrolled catchment development. Selection of the most suitable method of mitigating the environmental impact of development is considered.
