Abstract

The growth of the organs of etiolated seedlings of Lolium perenne cv. S24 during the period of endospermdependent growth is described. The lengths and the weights of the organs of L. perenne cv. S24 after 10 days growth in the dark and in daylight from heavy and light-weight caryopses are compared. The lengths of the etiolated seedling organs of six species of grasses are compared and discussed in relation to seed weight.
