Abstract
A key function of digital watermarking is the insertion of digital information into digital media contents so that the embedded information can be used for performing digital rights management (DRM) in the context of electronic commerce. DRM enables the secure distribution, promotion, and sales of digital media content over the Internet. In general, DRM relates to copyright and copy protection, ownership assertion and verification, rights and payment enforcement and so on. Some commercial DRM solutions are based on watermarking technologies and they utilize digital watermarks in many different ways and for different purposes. Some solutions not based on watermarking technologies (cryptographic).
