Abstract
The Special Court for Sierra Leone is a hybrid, national/international tribunal which has been more successful in its fight against impunity than the Timor-Leste Special Panels. These different bodies have similarities: they are both hybrid courts involving both national and international components and they are both composed of international and national judges. While the Timor-Leste Special Panels operate within the domestic judicial system of that country, the Sierra Leone Court is an autonomous judiciary body separate from the national court system of Sierra Leone. The Timor-Leste Panels and the Sierra Leone Court are both ‘localized’; they are positioned in the country where the crimes were committed. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
