Abstract

Since the advent of the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation, public attention has increasingly turned towards the topic of regulation within the financial industry. A number of groups find themselves vested in the outcomes and processes employed by financial institutions: government has a regulatory obligation and consumers increasingly voice concerns surrounding privacy. ese consumers expect firms to take steps to mitigate risk both to assets and personal information. is chapter explores risk assessment and information security in the context of a financial services firm, including key considerations, industry differentiators, and methods for mitigating the risk present in this vertical.
