During a forensic investigation, one of the most important things to remember is that once something is moved, it can never be put back in its exact position or orientation. For this reason, practical skills in various survey and mapping techniques will allow investigators to maintain a quality record of where every item of evidence was found within a de ned area and if necessary, will also assist the investigator in recreating the order of events surrounding the items being recorded.
