Abstract
This chapter discusses the history of paleopathology in Switzerland. Paleopathology is a rather young scientific discipline in Switzerland and an actual “paleopathological school” or other similar institution has never been developed. Almost all of the few contributors to Swiss paleopathology spent just part of their research time in the field of paleopathology, and they mostly worked on their own. The chapter first covers major early representatives of the field. The chapter then reviews Swiss institutions and organizations that are currently concerned with paleopathology, and includes a contribution on skeletal collections relevant to future research in paleopathology.
