On This Moment

Abstract This chapter focuses on why a wide range of authors in a wide range of disciplines used the phrase moral imagination as the title or subtitle of their books. Three keys have linked diverse authors to this phrase: (i) the authors concurred that the moral imagination develops a capacity to perceive things beyond and at a deeper level than what initially meets the eye; (ii) that no matter the particular disciplinary field, the authors landed on the term imagination in order to emphasize the necessity of the creative act; and (iii) that while expressed in different ways for a variety of purposes, the authors converged in the idea that the moral imagination has a quality of transcendence.
