Abstract

This contribution presents analysis of effect of separation of selected nuclides from spent nuclear fuel on characteristics of the spent fuel. Composition of nuclear fuel is changing during its irradiation in a nuclear reactor. Fission products are created along with several higher actinides. These two groups of nuclides are responsible for the majority of activity and residual decay heat of spent nuclear fuel. Several reprocessing times are considered and the impact on the characteristics of spent nuclear fuel is quantified. The analysis was conducted in SCALE 6.0.
