Community College Service-Learning Programs: The Well-Traveled Path to Civic Engagement

H ow does service-learning impact civic engagement in community college students? To what extent is it mediated by multiple service-learning experiences? In what, if any, areas of civic engagement are these impacts most profound? In order to investigate these three research questions, surveys measuring civic engagement levels were developed and administered to community college students who participated in service-learning and those who did not. These surveys were administered in courses at eight community colleges each semester for two years. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
