Abstract
This chapter provides a summary of a landmark study in hematology and oncology. Are vena cava filters, in addition to standard anticoagulation therapy, beneficial in patients with an episode of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) who are at high risk for pulmonary embolism? Starting with that question, it describes the basics of the study, including funding, study location, who was studied, how many patients, study design, study intervention, follow-up, endpoints, results, and criticism and limitations. The chapter briefly reviews other relevant studies and information, discusses implications, and concludes with a relevant clinical case.
A significance statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
A contribution statement is not available in the OpenAlex record.
Method details are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Findings are not separately available in the OpenAlex metadata.
Limitations are not available in the OpenAlex metadata.
