Abstract

About 63m{sup 3} of HLLW, stored at WAK in Karlsruhe, Germany, shall be solidified in the PAMELA vitrification plant, Belgium. An alkaline borosilicate glass frit is developed. The glass product should contain about 16 wt% of waste oxides. A brief description of the bandwidth investigation to characterize the borosilicate glass product is given. The investigation aims to ensure smooth operation during vitrification and to qualify the glass product for the ultimate disposal.
