A chromosome survey of three South African species of Chrysomelinae (Coleoptera : Chrysomelidae)

Abstract

Cytogenetic data can be used to test proposed phylogenies and inter-relationships within the Chrysomelinae, till now based largely on morphological characters and larval defensive substances. The karyotype, characterized by chromosome number, size and morphology, is a definite and constant character for each species.
