Kinship Care in the Public Child Welfare System

Abstract

Abstract This chapter presents a systematic review (SR) of kinship care research. It begins with an explanation of the SR method. The findings of the systematic review are presented in three broad categories: characteristics of children, birth parents, and caregivers; provision of child welfare services while in care; and goals and outcomes of placement. Trends that emerged from the review are discussed.
