DolWin1 - Challenges of connecting offshore wind farms

Abstract

Inherent properties of offshore AC grid with high penetration of wind generation present a number of challenges when connecting the wind turbine generators to the main onshore grid via HVDC. The paper focuses on discussing these challenges based on the experience gained by ABB during the execution of DolWin1 project and other previous offshore projects.
