Abstract

Language is one of the key elements in the construction of human groups. All children are socialized into their respective language groups, and adults, striving to maintain comprehensibility within the group, teach children the structures and lexis used by the group, and correct them as they learn. Thus all human beings police, protect and promote language to a degree, and forms of language policy and language planning (LPLP) occur in all societies.
