Abstract
Financial planning is a plan or a roadmap to reach numerous financial goals. Financial planning is the process of meeting life’s financial goals through the proper management of finances. Life goals vary from person to person and from wealth level to wealth level. In most cases, the financial planning process consists of six key steps as outlined by the Certified Financial Planning Board (CFPB). Financial planning can be a very good way to meet the financial goals. It is possible to do it by self; however, working with a planner is highly recommended. This chapter discusses the six steps that the financial planning process consists of when working with a financial planner. While working with a financial planner, understanding the financial planning process and what the planner should be doing is necessary. The planner should be provided with all of the relevant information on the financial situation. Financial planning is a dynamic process. The financial goals might change over the years due to changes in the lifestyle or circumstances. Therefore, it is important to understand the effects that the financial decisions have on other financial issues.
