Abstract
Alternative models of car ownership for Australia are developed, validated and used to forecast car ownership levels through to the year 2000. The applications of these model to cities and to smaller regions is discussed. Effect of car ownership on modal split is analysed and a methodology for determining the future vehicle mix is described.
