Excerpts from the report: The U.S. Department of Agriculture has received numerous requests for information concerning the effectiveness of ozone for preventing spoilage of fruits and vegetables during storage. Conflicting reports have been made of the effectiveness of ozone in reducing postharvest decay. The present study represents an extension of earlier work and considers the effect of ozone treatment during storage at different temperatures on storage life and subsequent shelf life of fruits or vegetables.
