Abstract
The data sources, mainly official, for earnings and wage series are presented in chapter 2, Earnings and Wages. To the extent that formal earnings or wage series were developed by the data-gathering institutions themselves from their own collected data, these series are also discussed in Earnings and Wages. Private scholars have used these data to construct their own earnings and wage series, which are arranged here in three sections with associated tables: average hourly earnings (AHE) or average hourly wage (AHW) series, average daily wage (ADW) series, and composite series.
