Abstract
A protein synthesis inhibitor is a substance that stops or slows the growth or proliferation of plant, animal, or microbial cells by disrupting the processes that lead directly to the generation of new proteins (translation). Many antibiotics and toxins function as inhibitors of protein synthesis at different stages of translation: initiation, elongation, and termination.1
