Abstract

A Permian gymnosperm is described as a new genus and new species, Sylvocarpus armatus gen. et sp. nov., on the basis of half-closed seed-bearing capsules. The new plant is assigned to the Angaropeltidaceae, a family related to the Peltaspermales and Caytoniales.
