Abstract
New food packaging technologies are developing as a response to consumer demands or industrial production trends towards. In recent years, one of the most innovative developments in the area of food packaging is the intelligent packaging, which aiming to monitor and to give information about the quality and safety of the packaged food. In this paper the usage, legal aspects and costs of intelligent packaging in food industry and the smart package devices are reviewed
