Abstract
A gastroprokinetic or gastrokinetic or prokinetic agent is a drug which enhances gastrointestinal motility by stimulating the frequency of peristalsis or contractions in the small intestine. It should be noted that their rhythm is not disturbed at all.Abdominal discomfort, constipation, heart burn, nausea, vomiting, boating and other gastrointestinal symptoms are relieved by these agents.Prokinetic agents also help in relieving above mentioned motility disorders. Mosapride is a selective 5-HT4 receptor antagonist with no affinity for 5-HT1,5-HT2and other receptors such as dopamine D2-Receptors,adrenalineL1and adrenalineL2 receptors.
