New Mesozoic brachiopods from Canada

Late Triassic and early Jurassic stratigraphy and invertebrate faunas of the eastern Cordillera are discussed and 6 sections are described. From these sections, 8 species of rhynchonellid brachiopods are recorded for the first time from the Canadian Mesozoic. Five are from the Upper Triassic of British Columbia, one is from the Lower Jurassic of British Columbia and 2 are from the Lower Jurassic of Alberta and the Northwest Territories respectively. The stratigraphic, paleogeographic and paleoecologic significance of these finds is discussed.
