Abstract
Fitzgerald creates a great work of literary art by using the device of a first-person narrator involved with the action and commenting upon it. According to the theory of narratology, this paper gives some analysis to the narrative techniques in the novel, such as a first-person narrative, an authorial narrative, narrators, an overt narrator, a covert narrator, narrative situations, point of view, etc., and communicates its special effects created by the first-person narrative point of view. In this paper, I would analyze the novel in these respects.
