Abstract
For some Americans, there has never been, never can be and never should be such a thing as effective multilateralism. For others there has been, can and should be more. Providing a US perspective requires discussing both of these views, their political dynamics as well as substantive arguments, and of course, points on the spectrum in between. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors. This process is experimental and the keywords may be updated as the learning algorithm improves.
