Abstract
[Abstract] In conventional land mobile moving picture transmission systems utilizing a communication satellite, the transmitted moving picture can get into freezing due to packet loss, that can occur when the electric wave is blocked by some building, tree, utility pole, etc. standing along the roadside. In this paper, we propose a new land mobile moving picture transmission system utilizing a packet loss reducing system. Furthermore, we introduce a concept of packet loss ratio for indicating the state of packet loss, and also try to evaluate the performance of the packet loss ratio measured in three different Japanese urban areas such as in the area of Ginza, Tokyo; in the central area of Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture; and in the central area of Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture.
