Abstract

Energy shortage and environmental issues have introduced a new perspective to develop another energy resource from waste materials. Especially, conversion of wastes into clean energy is significant. Co-utilization of waste and coal is expected to offer many technical advantages which have not been achieved by processing waste alone, it will make heat content of fuel stabilized and make it easy to handle without environmental problem. A large amount of waste generates in urban areas and is mostly reclaimed without utilization. If the waste were utilized both for electricity and heat supply to the area, it would be economically quite feasible. Fig. 1 shows a basic concept for the utilization system. Waste will be cofired with coal in a thermal power plant.
