Abstract
This work presents results of anaerobic dechlorination and aerobic biodegradation investigations performed with PCB-contaminated soil. Results from both anaerobic-aerobic and aerobic-anaerobic sequential studies are presented. The anaerobic studies were performed in soil slurry reactors and represent the unique case in which a microbial consortium has been successfully transferred from native river sediments to soil with very low organic carbon content. End products effect on humans are estimated based on literature information.
