Abstract

Haploid cells of the yeast Saccharomyces c erevisiae are of either a or α mating type. An a and α cell can mate to form a diploid. This mating process is mediated by mating pheromones. The effect which one of these pheromones, α factor (1), has on the process of hybrid formation using protoplast fusion is investigated in this poster.
