Abstract

The principal of centrifugal separation is explained and different types of separators on the market are described - the multi-gravity separator (MGS), the Knelson concentrator, the Falcon concentrator and the Kelsey centrifugel jig. Non-centrifugel separation techniques are also mentioned as are new heavy medium separators such as the Vorsyl separator, the Dyna-whirlpool separator and the Tri-flow separator, currently being evaluated in Indian coal preparation plants. 15 refs., 6 figs., 5 tabs.
