Abstract
In this study the effect of gamma irradiation on cellulose di and triacetate has been followed through viscometric and ultrasonic studies. The samples were irradiated with gamma rays to different dosages (1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 30 Mrads). It has been observed that the behaviour of cellulose diacetate is different from that of cellulose triacetate. The damage due to irradiation is high in cellulose diacetate. Most of the properties reduced with the increase in dosage. In the case of triacetate except in the velocity, in all other properties the values are always lower than that of diacetate.
