Abstract

This paper describes the Initial Graphics Exchange Specification (IGES) which is used for the transfer of a product model between CAD systems or between CAD systems and Computer Aided Manufacture. The use of IGES to link a CAD system to a process planning system for non-rotatonal parts which includes a COMPACT II NC package is then described. This work is a step towards the automatic generation of NC data from design data.
