Abstract
A sample of elliptical galaxies (which, if we search for a single inhomogeneity with the standard relative density fluctuation proportional to r −2 , leads to the presence of the Great Attractor at a distance of ≃44 h −1 Mpc) is used in order to obtain information on the infall velocity toward the prominent clusters at distances ≤80 h −1 Mpc and the push from some local void. We compare the results with the IRAS ones. From the ellipticals, we obtain that the large clusters at distances >40 h −1 Mpc (Pavo, N1600, North Centaurus, Perseus-Pisces and Coma) cause large motions (>100 km s −1 ) at the Local Group. However, the combined contribution (to the Local Group motion) of these far structures is weak
