Gastroent. 1974, 9, 153-157.In dogs with chronic gastric and pancreatic fistulas and intestinal Thiry loops fashioned from the upper and distal portions of the duodenum, secretin and cholecystokinin were released by hydrochloric acid and amino acid solutions perfused through the loops. It was found that secretin and cholecystokinin releasing capacity per unit length of the duodenum is constant and there is no gradient of releasable intestinal hormones along the duodenum.
