Abstract
A rise in mean arterial blood pressure to approximately 150 mm Hg by infusion of angiotensin II was accompanied by an approximate 6.4-fold selective increase in oxygen tension in tumor tissue without increasing oxygen tension in uninvolved tissues of the tumor-bearing host. The results were obtained in experiments employing subcutaneously transplanted AH109A solid tumors in Donryu rats. Changes in tissue oxygen tension were examined polarographically by means of an exposed platinum electrode.
