Abstract
This article gives a brief survey of the literature on the failure of vasectomies and then reviews 1 case history. This vasectomy failure in a 32 year old man was discovered 5 months postvasectomy when his wife became pregnant. Reexploration of the vas deferens was performed 1 month later after ascertaining that the patients seminal fluid did indeed contain plenty of live sperm. A mass of fibrous tissue was found connecting both vas deferens. The fibrous mass connecting 1 vas deferens was found to contain a serpiginous tunnel which connected the distal and proximal ends inside the fibrous tissue. It is suggested that a good length of vas deferens to be resected and either 1 or both ends be folded back upon itself to decrease the proximation to each other.
