Operative Korrektur der Lidfehlstellungen

PURPOSE: It is anticipated that in the light of demographic changes a further increase, particularly in senile eyelid malpositions will occur. METHODS: Using case studies, this article presents the most common surgical procedures for correction of ectropion, entropion, trichiasis, ptosis and eyelid anomalies in facial nerve palsy and socket anophthalmic syndrome. RESULTS: In general, most eyelid malpositions can be corrected with excellent cosmetic and functional results. It is, however, difficult to reconstruct eyelid malpositions occurring in conjunction with systemic diseases. CONCLUSIONS: The choice of surgical procedure considering the age of the patient, the genesis and the exact localisation of the pathology is of utmost importance in order to achieve ideal post-operative results.
