Abstract

Partial discharge (PD) waveform measured by PD measurement system may oscillate or contain high frequency noise. The unsmooth PD waveform is difficult to be analyzed. The PD waveform parameters such as rise time and fall time are difficult to be calculated. Moreover the determination of number and magnitude of PD pulse is also difficult. In order to overcome the problems, it is proposed to envelope the PD waveform by using the envelope circuit. This paper deals with designing, simulating, and manufacturing envelope detector of PD signals. The envelope circuit were implemented in the form of software and hardware.
