Abstract

The quantity of erythrocyte glucose- 6-phosphate dehydrogenase in the pig-tailed macaque varies with erythrocyte age and serum thyroxine level as was earlier observed in man. On the contrary, the quantity of erythrocyte carbonic anhydrase in the pig-tailed macaque appears not to be associated with these two variables. This is in contrast to repeated reports of an inverse correlation between serum thyroxine level and erythrocyte carbonic anhydrase in human subjects.
