Abstract
This discussion examines the major approaches, elementary steps, and prominent issues of historical inquiry as they relate to therapeutic recreation. Examples from the literature are used to illustrate each of these areas. Concluding remarks stress the importance of practicing history for the practice of therapeutic recreation.
