More district nurse education needed in palliative care

Abstract
District nurses should attend work placements in specialist palliative care services as part of ongoing education, according to a new review. This is one of several measures proposed to ensure district nurses can advance their cancer care skills and help increase the number of people who die at home. It came about through evaluation of the educational needs of district and community nurses during a three-year Department of Health (DH)-funded programme into palliative care.
