Abstract
The article presents a case of symptomatic focal epilepsy with poorly controlled seizures and lack of efficiency of the basic antiepileptic therapy. The patient was held therapeutic drug monitoring, which revealed toxic levels of valproic acid and carry out the correction of antiepileptic therapy in the form of lower doses of valproic acid and 20 mg/kg/day and the appointment of the second antiepileptic drug levetiracetam new generation at a dose of 125 mg 2 times a day. Within 2 weeks of treatment the patient’s condition improved, behavioral disorders decreased frequency of complex focal seizures reduced by half.
