Some Observation on Curcuminoids from Zingiberaceae Plants

Abstract

The three curcuminoids, curcumin (I), p-hydroxycinnamoylferuloylmethane (II), and p, p'-dihydroxydicinnamoylmethane (III), were isolated and identified from zedoary, the rhizome of Curcuma zedoaria Rosc. The structures of II and III were confirmed by physical methods, especially from nuelear magnetic resonance spectra (Table I). The content of I in several strains of Curcuma genus was also examined.
