Abstract
Kelly(1972) said there were four types of leisure depending on the amount of free choice people have and the activity’s meaning to them. They included four types of leisures named unconditional leisure, recuperative leisure, relational leisure, and role-determined leisure. This study examines Kelly’s theory, a type of leisure, to compare the old and the new, adding demographic factors such as gender, age, income, level of education, and occupation. To reveal the casual effect, 550 samples were gathered to compare and analyze from the participants in 2015 Seoul International Sports & Leisure Industry Show. As a result, relational leisure and role-determined leisure increase while unconditional leisure and recuperative leisure are decreasing because most of the participants in a leisure activity have been more likely to have needs for social involvements in a contemporary leisure context, and besides, demographic factor are still considerably influential to a type of leisure.
