Abstract

The new landlord steps into the shoes of the previous landlord and the agreement with the tenant continues uninterrupted. It is advisable for a prospective landlord to investigate if there is an oral (verbal) or written agreement to establish the terms and conditions between the seller/previous owner and the tenants. Attempts to introduce any change without the consent of the tenant would not be binding and enforceable.
