Abstract

Trichomonas vaginitis is caused by Trichomonas vaginalis, an essentially anaerobic organism. Cleansing and drying of the vaginal mucosa are essential steps in eradicating the trichomonads. To accomplish this, the vagina must be opened and held open for a period of time. In addition, only a minimal portion of the vagina must be covered. A framelike device, the Vagaerator, has been designed for this purpose.
